November 1 - 7 | Verse of the Week

MARK 16:15

"And he said to them, 'Go into all the World and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.'"

What does this mean?

Probably heard this before right? Really popular one, however this verse and what it means, is truly our main mission as Christ followers! This verse tells us to go into ALL the world and spread the gospel. So what is the "gospel" first off?

This is the Gospel: We are all sinners. No amount of good deeds, or acts can make you right with God. We all fall short of his standards, and we all disobey and have sinned against the Moral Law (The 10 commandments). However God in His ultimate holiness, and grace, provided a way for guilty sinners like me and you, to make amends with Him. The way to be make amends, is through the blood of Jesus, and His blood alone. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day. If we repent of our sins, and follow Jesus, we will be saved!

Now comes the question... how do we "proclaim the Gospel?". This is a tough one, it really is. And with all the different styles, and ways to preach the Word, it can be confusing. However the first step is to be close to God yourself. You have to reading His word, and truly following Him. The next step is to just exemplify Christ through your daily actions! Show the Fruit of the Spirit to all around you, and they'll see a light in you! Next, is to actually go talk to people about the Gospel! Don't worry, it's not as scary as you might think. Show them first that we are all sinners, and we are in dire need of a savior. Show them that the sin is serious, and we need somebody to help us out of our sinful habits, ways, etc. Explain to them the need for repentance, then show them Jesus' work on the cross! Show them His love, and what He has done for us! Finally, close by asking to pray for them! Easy as that! :)

Why a Bible Verse Weekly?

I believe the Bible is easily, hands down, no joke, the single best book out there. The amazing life advice, the plot twists, the power, miracles, battles, betrayals, and best of all... the ultimate love story between us undeserving humans, and a Holy and just God! I used to despise of reading any type of literature. Until one day I actually picked up my Bible, had an open heart and mind, and just read. And you can do the same! JUST READ!

The purpose of the Bible verse weekly is to remind people of God's love, his compassion, his warnings, Jesus' teachings, and to really remind you how great of a God we all have!
